Cupping was made famous by Michael Phelps and the infamous circle bruises you could see across his shoulders at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games. Cupping is an ancient form of Chinese medicine and has been around for centuries but now with the vast array of different techniques is not designed not to leave the circular purple bruises.

Myofascial cupping is a soft tissue therapy that encourages healing by creating a negative pressure or suction on the skin using plastic or glass cups. It aids movement and helps to maintain muscle function by pulling up underlying tissues, blood and other fluids close to the surface of the skin.
